Dear readers,
March is coming and I have been more than six months in the US. It feels really fast for me.
After six months here, I little bit understand about how a typical American spends their weekend. So enjoy this piece of writing!
Let's define weekend first. In Indonesia what we call weekend is started on Saturday evening, right? In the US weekend started on Friday after class. So weekend here is Friday night until Sunday.
Indonesians spend their weekend by hanging out with friends, going out to eat, watching movies, and maybe playing internet. I do the same exact thing here. Every weekend I go out with other Indonesians to eat Asian food most of the time. Asian food is not exactly the same with Indonesian food, because Asian food sold here is mostly Thai food or Chinese food. FYI, Chinese food taste as good as in Indonesia though. So when I miss home, that is what I will do.
Most Americans will spend their weekend the same way as Indonesians. Except for one thing called PARTY! Yeah, most Americans spend their weekend started from Friday night go to a bar and drink. What I mean here by drinking is drinking alcohol. Sometimes they will do party in their friend's house. I don't say it is a bad thing. To be honest, I will say it is a cultural difference. :)
However, not all Americans go to party. Some of them think that party is not necessary. They also have law that mention 21 is a drinking age in the US. So if you are not 21 years old, you are illegal to consume or buy alcohol.
Also there is a responsible drinker. As we all know that alcohol will make us drunk. But some people drink within their limit so they will not get drunk. One American friend that I know, he said that he only get drunk once a year. So, drinking as long as it is responsible, is not a bad thing.
I have never been to a party before, and maybe will never be. What is nice here, they do not judge people if they are not going to parties. It is all personal choice. :)
Alright guys, I hope this is quite interesting and worth-reading.
See ya again on the next post!
